Why doesn't a competitor I added show up, or why does it show zero on past days?

A new competitor is measured from the scans after you add it. The note on the “Add a competitor” card on the Competitors page says the same. Past answers aren't re-examined for the new competitor.
That's why the competitor may sit on the zero line in the chart for dates before the day you added it. Its coverage in the selected period also reads lower than it really is until the period fills up with new measurements.
By default, the Brand coverage chart shows your 5 strongest competitors and you. You can turn on other competitors from the “Brands” selector above the chart.
If the competitor appears in answers under different spellings, add aliases: on the Competitors page, press “Edit competitors”, click the competitor's pencil icon, fill in the “Aliases” field and press “Save”. Aliases also apply from the next scan onward.
